BREAKING: Elite Prospect Decommits from Team to Join Florida Football

Florida is making a strong push for Oakleaf High School cornerback from Orange Park, Florida, and is in a favorable position to secure his commitment following his recent decommitment from Rutgers. The 6-foot-1, 173-pound prospect announced his decision to reopen his recruitment on Sunday night, expressing gratitude to Rutgers for their hospitality and the opportunity to play for the program.

Singleton initially committed to Rutgers in mid-June after an official visit but began reconsidering his options when the Gators ramped up their efforts to recruit him. He attended Florida’s game against Kentucky on Saturday, which significantly boosted the Gators’ chances of landing him.

According to 247Sports, Singleton is ranked as the No. 82 player in Florida and the No. 60 cornerback nationally, which is higher than his 247Sports Composite ranking of No. 101 in Florida and No. 67 at his position.

Kaylib Singleton In-state DB considering visit with Florida Gators

Singleton plays high school football just 55 miles from Florida’s campus, and the Gators have been actively recruiting him over the past month following a quiet summer. He has built a relationship with secondary coach Will Harris and assistant defensive backs coach Beyah Rasool. “I like their personality and the way they coach,” Singleton said. “I talk to them on a personal level, and I feel like they’re real cool people, and real cool coaches. I like being around them, so that’s why I’ve still visited. They have good energy.”

Florida initially offered Singleton in May 2023, and he made an official visit that same month. While he ultimately committed to Rutgers after an official visit in June 2024, Florida left a lasting impression. “I like the relationship I built with the players,” Singleton noted. “I got to know the coaches and spent time with Coach Rasool, who was cool.”

This season, Singleton has recorded 39 tackles (24 solo) and eight pass breakups in seven games, showcasing his playmaking abilities on the field.
