Breaking News: Colorado Buffaloes Coach Shares Ground Breaking News

The talent, the two-way star for the Colorado Buffaloes, is well-known. He excels as both a wide receiver and cornerback, frequently appearing in Heisman Trophy discussions. This season, Hunter has recorded 46 receptions for 561 yards and six touchdowns, along with 16 total tackles, three pass deflections, two interceptions, and a forced fumble defensively. He is considered a special talent and a likely top-10 pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.

Colorado offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur praised Hunter’s abilities, stating, “I’ve said this probably to all 32 NFL teams, but he has some superpowers,” after Tuesday’s practice. “His most obvious one is his ball skills. When you’re playing corner, it’s crucial to affect the ball, and he gets interceptions as a defensive player.”

Travis Hunter started his college career at Jackson State under Deion Sanders but chose to transfer when Sanders became the head coach at Colorado. In the 2023 season, Hunter recorded 57 receptions for 721 yards and five touchdowns, along with three interceptions on the defensive side. Pat Shurmur highlighted Hunter’s ability to compete at the next level on both offense and defense.

“Beyond everything he does, his ball skills are exceptional—whenever there’s a ball in the air near him, we have a great chance of him making the catch, whether he’s on offense or defense,” Shurmur stated. “Any team would be fortunate to have Travis; they just need to decide where to utilize him. He’s demonstrating that he can excel on either side of the ball.” It’s quite rare for a player to find success on both offense and defense, but Hunter has achieved this in his college career. Colorado’s next challenge is a significant Big 12 matchup against Kansas State in Boulder.
