Injury Update: Kings Top Star Shares Ground Breaking News

Sacramento Kings wing suffered a shoulder injury, which kept him out for the rest of the 2023-24 season. More than six months later, he is still undergoing rehab to make his return to the court.

At the 2024 Media Day, Huerter was asked about his recovery following shoulder surgery and his expected return date. He responded with optimism (via @MattGeorgeSAC | X):

I feel good. I’m getting there… I was originally given a six-month process time to get back and have another follow up mid-October. The last stuff for me is really just getting five-on-five full contact. Haven’t gone contact against a player yet, not cleared to do that… Been one-on-zero for four months now… Itching to get back, go against somebody else… [The shot] feels good, everything does.

Kevin Huerter: Sacramento Kings have to "get more consistent"
Kevin Huerter

Kevin Huerter, 26, had a challenging 2023-24 season but is expected to make a strong comeback this year. He posted 10.2 points per game last season, his lowest since his rookie year, while shooting a career-low 36.1 percent from three.

If Huerter can regain the form he showed in his first season with Sacramento, where he averaged 15.2 points per game and shot 40.2 percent from beyond the arc, it would significantly boost the Kings’ chances of contending.

After a tough season and a season-ending injury, it’s encouraging to see how motivated Huerter is to return and prove his critics wrong.
