£80m AC Milan January transfer now a real possibility

According to the Italian publication, Chelsea intends to spend extensively during the winter transfer window, with Mike Maignan at the top of their desire list.

It is not the first time that the Blues have expressed interest in the 28-year-old.
During the summer, the Evening Standard reported that Chelsea considered signing Maignan but were put off by AC Milan’s £80 million asking price.

Instead, the club signed Robert Sanchez, although the former Brighton & Hove Albion man has been under fire for his error against Arsenal last weekend.

Mike Maignan is suddenly a key Chelsea transfer target?

Tottenham ramp up interest in AC Milan star; he was instrumental in knocking them out of the Champions League

Honestly, it’s incredible that Chelsea is being associated with more than one goalie right now, despite having only recently signed Sanchez.
While Calciomercatoweb claims that Maignan is the Blues’ #1 target, TEAMtalk claims that Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale is also on their radar.

Do they have reservations about Sanchez? Were there any to begin with? Even if that is the case, we do not see Maignan as a major target for the club just yet.

Chelsea will very certainly want to give their present No.1 more time considering that he has only been at the club for a short period, and they will almost certainly have bigger issues in their roster to deal with.

The striker position, for example, has long been a source of contention for the Blues. Since Diego Costa, they have not had a centre-forward score 20 goals in a single Premier League season. Six years ago, the former Chelsea player left Stamford Bridge.

That should be solved first before going out and spending more money on another goalkeeper.
