Breaking News: Kings Confirms The Signing Of Another Top Star

Reports of the Kings’ intention to sign the former USC guard surfaced in late July. While the specific terms of the contract haven’t been disclosed, it is likely an Exhibit 10 deal.

Ellis impressed during Sacramento’s Summer League, where he averaged 11.2 points per game across five contests, shooting 51.3% from the field and an impressive 54.5% from beyond the arc.

He began his college career at Memphis in 2019 before transferring to USC two years later. In his final season with the Trojans, Ellis earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors, averaging 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 29 games. Over his three seasons at USC, he posted averages of 15.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.2 steals across 95 career games.

An Exhibit 10 deal allows Ellis to earn a bonus of up to $77.5K (in addition to his G League salary) if he is waived by Sacramento and then spends at least 60 days with their G League affiliate, the Stockton Kings. His contract could also be converted into a two-way deal before the season, though the Kings currently have no open two-way spots available.
