The Chargers announced the signing of linebacker Blake Lynch and wide receiver Jalen Reagor to the practice squad. To make room, the team released tight end Luke Benson and cornerback Nehemiah Shelton.
Reagor, who last played for the Patriots in 2023, mainly contributed on special teams, including a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Lynch, a core special teams player for the Chargers in 2023, is expected to resume a similar role with several special teams contributors currently sidelined due to injuries.
The addition of Reagor seems aimed at creating competition in the return game. Although Darius Davis earned Second-Team All-Pro honors as a punt returner in 2023, he has appeared hesitant in his decision-making through the first three games of the season.
This move aligns with the team’s strategy of consistently adjusting the roster, a philosophy that head coach Jim Harbaugh and personnel executive Joe Hortiz have maintained, particularly following the recent loss to the Steelers.
