News Flash: Another Top Experienced Star To Join The Dodgers

Right-handed pitcher is set to rejoin the Los Angeles Dodgers after one more start at Triple-A Oklahoma City, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Manager Dave Roberts mentioned that he will pitch four innings in that outing and could then be available for the Dodgers, though it’s unclear if he’ll be used as a starter or reliever for the postseason.

**His  Comeback from Tommy John Surgery**
He  has been sidelined since last August following Tommy John surgery. It’s likely that his 2023 struggles, including an 8-5 record with a 4.98 ERA and a 10-run blowout in his final start against the Marlins, were due to pitching through injury. This contrasts sharply with his stellar 2022 season, when he posted a 2.14 ERA and a 16-1 record in 24 starts, earning his first All-Star nod.

**Progress in Rehab**
In his two rehab starts so far, Gonsolin has thrown 4 2/3 innings, giving up two earned runs and a walk while striking out six.

**Dodgers’ Pitching Woes**
The Dodgers are currently facing challenges on the mound. With ace Tyler Glasnow out for the year due to an elbow injury and Clayton Kershaw’s return looking doubtful, the team is in need of reliable arms. Although Yoshinobu Yamamoto has returned and Jack Flaherty has been consistent, the rotation remains uncertain. Walker Buehler’s recent performance against the Braves, where he allowed just two earned runs over six innings, was promising. However, young pitcher Bobby Miller has struggled since coming off the IL, allowing five runs in nearly every start, primarily via home runs.

**Looking Ahead**
For the Dodgers to avoid an early postseason exit, they’ll need their pitching staff to step up. If Tony Gonsolin can return to form, it would provide a much-needed boost for their playoff hopes.
