Breaking News: UNC Land Commitment For Another Top Experienced Star

A second 2026 commitment from the weekend was made possible by North Carolina’s home opener. Florida cornerback Danny Odem made his commitment to UNC public on Monday night.

“North Carolina has always been my dream school,” Odem remarked. “So, it was just very exciting when they offered and invited me to the game.”

Odem, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound player, was extended an offer by Charlton Warren, the defensive backs coach for the Tar Heels, when the First Academy visited Orlando, Florida, for UNC’s June 12 7-on-7 team camp.

Similar camps were also attended by the First Academy at UCF, Charlotte, Duke, East Carolina, Liberty, NC State, and South Carolina. Based on his performance at their campuses, Liberty and UCF extended offers to Odem, much like UNC did. Ole Miss has also extended an offer to Odem.

Odem, who is originally from Western Pennsylvania, relocated to Orlando during the off-season.

Odem is now third on the First Academy’s tackle list with 24 after three games in his junior season. He’s also one of only two players with a recorded interception.

Zavion Griffin-Haynes, a four-star edge rusher, committed to the University of North Carolina on Sunday. He also attended Saturday’s game. These two joined Zaid Lott, a mid-three-star quarterback, on the Tar Heels’ ’26 commit list.
