Newcastle to launch stunning January move for former Arsenal midfielder who could cost bargain £17million

Newcastle United are interested in signing Dani Ceballos, former Arsenal midfielder.

Between 2019 and 2021, Ceballos spent two seasons on loan at the north London club before returning to parent club Real Madrid, where he has remained ever since.

Indeed, the 27-year-old merely inked fresh terms with Los Blancos in June, agreeing to a contract extension until 2027.

Nonetheless, he appears to be on the verge of departing.

Ceballos has played just 73 minutes in four games since returning from injury in September, and Newcastle has been made aware of the situation, according to reports in Spain, as reported by Team Talk.

Indeed, the Magpies’ interest has been sparked by Sandro Tonali’s uncertainty as a result of the betting charges leveled against the midfielder.

Newcastle are thought to be willing to give €20 million (£17 million) to acquire Ceballos’ services in the new year, with Tonali facing a potential ban. Aston Villa are rumored to be interested as well.

Tonali came off the bench to a warm reception as Newcastle defeated Crystal Palace 4-0 at St James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday.

“I think the hardest part is ahead regardless of what happens,” Newcastle manager Howe stated after the game.

“You get a lot of attention right away, and everyone is talking about the situation.” He has the adoration of his supporters today, but that is difficult to sustain over time. Who knows what awaits?

“I just think it’s great for him to know he’s got the support, not just of the senior management at the football club and the manager, but also the support of the supporters and they’re the most important people.”
