LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy scored the Tigers’ first touchdown of the season on Sunday, but he was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct thereafter.
Lacy caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Garrett Nussmeier midway through the second quarter of LSU’s 27-20 loss to USC at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. At first, it looked that the officials threw a flag in response to Lacy’s jubilant hip thrusts following the play.

However, upon additional investigation, it was discovered that Lacy had been sentenced for a gun-related offense. Lacy pretended to shoot a USC player as the fifth-year senior walked back to the bench.

Directly insulting an opponent is generally a penalty, but adding a gun-related factor made the decision easy for the authorities.
Lacy finished with seven catches for 94 yards and one touchdown, but it wasn’t enough. USC junior quarterback Miller Moss completed 27/36 passes for 378 yards and a score to lead the Trojans to an upset victory in their first Big Ten Conference game.
