Will Rogers has some big shoes to fill at Washington, but he’s apparently given the opportunity.
According to Jordan Schultz, the Huskies are going with Rogers as the starting quarterback. He spent four seasons at Mississippi State before transferring to Washington.
True freshman quarterback Demond Williams Jr., ranked No. 12 in the 2024 class, is also projected to play this season. It is unclear whether this occurs during trash time or as part of the offense.

Rogers appeared in 43 games at Mississippi State over four seasons, including 40 starts. He left the program as the all-time throwing leader, with 12,315 yards and 94 touchdowns.
At Washington, he is expected to replace Michael Penix Jr., the eighth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Penix, a Heisman Trophy candidate who led the Huskies to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game against Michigan, passed for 8.572 yards and 62 touchdowns (16 interceptions) in 2022 and 2023 combined.
