Latest: Avalanche Receive Ground-breaking News after Terrible Injury to Star

Colorado Avalanche have received the most positive update injury recovery of Gabriel Landeskog.

Landeskog was competing in the BMW Championship Pro-Am at Castle Pines ahead of the PGA Tour event scheduled for this weekend. Landeskog walked all 18 holes, a positive sign for his surgically repaired knee, which has cost him to miss the last two complete NHL seasons.

Landeskog is still rehabilitating a knee that underwent cartilage transplant surgery in May 2023, the most recent of several treatments. And, when he met with the media in May 2024, Landeskog said that he was not retiring but did not have a set date for returning. He half-joked that it would be between mid-September and April.

Landeskog is now double down on that, claiming he’s confident he’ll return to the NHL.
According to Corey Masisak of the Denver Post, Landeskog will meet with the team to develop a plan before training camp begins next month. Masisak also tweeted that Landeskog “told at least one fan on the course that he’ll definitely play this year – not sure if it’s Game 1, 10, or 20.”

This is fantastic news for the captain, who hasn’t played a game since the Avalanche won the Stanley Cup in June 2022 after defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games.

It’s been a long trek back, but Landeskog seems as close as ever. He also demonstrated that his golf skill is still solid by hitting a beautiful putt on Wednesday in front of one of his playing companions, Avalanche owner Josh Kroenke.
