With three new SEC offers, one of Florida’s 2025 pledges is open to looking into those programs this season.
When Loganville (GA) Grayson three-star defensive lineman Joseph Mbatchou committed to the Florida Gators in late July, they were the only power four offer on the table. While that was certainly appealing, the Gators also did an excellent job of answering all of Mbatchou’s queries and rapidly establishing a close bond. When Mbatchou told Florida of his intention to commit to them, he noted that the staff had advised him to be prepared for new teams to approach with offers.
That has come to fruition, with South Carolina, Auburn, and Texas joining the mix. Mbatchou is interested in reviewing the fresh offerings on the table.
“It’s been good seeing schools come after me,” Mbatchou said of the increasing attention. “I’m going to visit those schools and see what they have to offer. I’m open about my alternatives, but I’ll remember Florida as the first to come after me, the first to see my abilities and be present. I’d like to see those new offers if I can, whether for unofficial or formal visits. They will most likely be official visits, although I do not yet have any dates established.
Mbatchou’s desire to visit other schools is not uncommon in the world of college recruiting, where players often use their senior year to assess their options thoroughly. The defensive lineman noted that while he remains committed to the Gators, he wants to ensure he’s making the most informed decision possible.
Several programs have already expressed interest in Mbatchou. His impressive performances on the field and his potential as a future NFL prospect make him a highly sought-after recruit.
