According to Italian media, Mike Maignan has decided to stay with AC Milan despite interest from Chelsea.
According to Calcio Mercato, the Frenchman is poised to sign a new contract at the San Siro that will treble his present income.
After only a few games this season, Maignan has been linked with a move to Chelsea once more.
Over the summer, he was also on their radar as a reinforcement between the sticks became an obvious priority.
Andre Onana was another guy on their radar in Italy at the time, but his performance yesterday night had many thinking the Blues had been lucky there.
They eventually brought in Robert Sanchez, who was out of favor at Brighton.
However, it would be difficult to find many Chelsea fans who do not believe his signing has improved the team’s performance in that position compared to last season.
Maignan is content in Milan.
Both goalkeepers who were here a year ago have left, with Kepa Arrizabalaga joining Real Madrid on loan and Edouard Mendy joining Saudi Arabia.
Despite Sanchez’s great start to life in West London, rumours of a new goalkeeper has not completely subsided, with Maignan’s name being floated once more.
A deal to bring him in would most likely cost the Blues around £80 million, and that money appears to be better spent elsewhere.
Despite possessing Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja in their ranks, a striker is surely a figure on whom they may spend huge money.
Ivan Toney, who is widely expected to be on the move when he returns from his ban, is their primary target.
