The Los Angeles Dodgers’ rookie right-handed pitcher, will miss the rest of the season after suffering an elbow injury during his fourth major league start against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts did not have much information on Ryan’s injury after the 25-year-old underwent an MRI Sunday morning. Ryan, who was dealt from the San Diego Padres in March 2022, may undergo Tommy John surgery, according to Roberts.
“They are waiting on other scans to decide the next steps,” Roberts informed me.
Ryan was 1-0 with the Dodgers this season, with a 1.33 ERA. He threw 4 2/3 scoreless innings before leaving Saturday’s game. This year, there have been eight minor league starts spanning three levels, he had a 2.22 ERA.

The Dodgers had limited his minor league appearances to 49 games (45 starts) over three seasons.
Ryan felt tightness in his forearm in the third inning on Saturday and continued pitching until he was removed in the fifth inning due to soreness on a fastball to Pittsburgh’s Michael A. Taylor.
“It’s all part of the game, man,” Ryan stated following the game. “The pitch clock definitely increases your pace. Back then, you didn’t have to rush when throwing.
So throwing back-to-back pitches in 15 seconds begins to take its toll. But we’ll see how things pan out.
