Edmonton Elks’ defensive back, will miss the remainder of the 2024 season due to injury, according to a social media post.
“Thank you to all of my family and friends who continue to support my career,” he stated in an email. “#20 will return.”
The London, Ont. native was a sixth-round choice in the 2019 CFL Draft out of Wilfrid Laurier University. He has since played 55 regular season games with Edmonton, making 15 starts and earning 61 defensive tackles, 46 special teams tackles, and one forced fumble. He has four special teams tackles this season, tying Aubrey Miller Jr. for the team lead.
The six-foot, 195-pound defender seemed to have a non-contact injury in the team’s 20-14 loss to the Ottawa Redblacks this week. The two sides played Friday’s game with only four days of respite, prompting McLeod Bethel-Thompson to speak out about the risks of playing on short weeks. This is not the first time the veteran quarterback has done so; he was fined for similar remarks in June.
The Edmonton Elks (0-6) will host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1-5) on Sunday, July 28, with kickoff at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
