Breaking News: Auburn lands major commitment for another top experienced star

Auburn is making news in the transfer portal again after a little hiatus, as the Tigers announced the commitment of Cal-State Fullerton transfer pitcher Haley Rainey.

Rainey revealed her commitment on Instagram.

Rainey will be coming off a junior season in which she pitched 178.2 innings for the Titans, earning a 17-7 record in the circle.

Rainey went on to have a 1.68 ERA and only allowed two home runs while winning the Big West Conference Pitcher of the Year award.

The right-handed ace started 27 games for Cal State-Fullerton, guiding the Titans to the Big West Conference championship.

After winning the conference championship, the Titans moved to the NCAA Tournament, where they stunned eight-seed Stanford before being eliminated by the Cardinal in the second game of the doubleheader.

Rainey pitched five innings of relief in the upset win, allowing four hits, zero runs, and four strikeouts.

Rainey began her career at Utah State and was named the Big Sky Freshman of the Year in 2022, recording 163 strikeouts in 157 innings of work.

Rainey will become Auburn’s second transfer pitcher, following the signing of former Oklahoma pitcher SJ Geurin.
