Breaking News: Aaron Judge Sends Serious Warning to Struggling Yankees Pitcher

The prevalent notion of Yankees starting Marcus Stroman and Gleyber Torres is that they do not get along. There have been no reports of this, but if you believe your eyes, a recent contact between both players would lead you to assume so.

During a recent series against the Blue Jays in Toronto, Stroman was observed yelling at Torres for failing to turn an easy double play. This resulted in a confrontation between Stroman and Yankees captain Aaron Judge, in which the pitcher was warned not to disrespect his teammates on the field.

Stroman didn’t show up Torres in his Friday start against Toronto at Yankee Stadium after the second baseman mistook a home run for a single. Instead, WFAN commentator Peter Hoffman believes Stroman, who gave up seven runs in two and a third innings, maneuvered behind the scenes to force Yankees manager Aaron Boone to withdraw Torres.

 

 

“What (Stroman) probably did was talk to Boone and say, ‘if I’m out, Torres gotta be out, because that was a run that would have helped us, and I want to see some repercussion,” Hoffman told Audacy over telephone.

A few batters after Torres’ baserunning blunder, shortstop Anthony Volpe hit a line drive into the corner for a double, and Torres was thrown out at home plate attempting to score from first. He could have easily scored if he had legged out a double from second base.

Torres ended up on the Yankees’ bench an inning later.

“The reason for it was because Marcus Stroman was on the mound and he was struggling, and he couldn’t handle Gleyber Torres not running out a ball that hits off the wall and should have been a double, and he goes out there and he completely craps the bed in that third inning and gives runs back,” WFAN anchor Peter Hoffman.

“That’s the thing about Marcus Stroman; he’s easily unraveled,” Hoffman continued. “He didn’t start the game off well, but on top of that, you see him go out there and do that after an inning where the Yankees could have scored more runs and at least tied the game for Marcus Stroman.”

Stroman’s ERA has risen from 2.82 to 4.10 during his last eight starts, surrendering 31 runs (28 earned) in 36 2/3 innings. This season, he’s 7-6 with a 5.10 FIP in 22 starts, indicating that his fielders are providing him with a lot of help.
