Breaking News: Spurs Confirm The Signing Of Another Top Talented Star

Earlier in the offseason, the San Antonio Spurs signed guards David Duke Jr. and Jamaree Bouyea to two-way contracts, leaving just one two-way roster spot open. It has now been reported that the Spurs have filled this last spot. According to the team’s X account, the Spurs have signed rookie small forward Harrison Ingram to their final two-way contract.

The Spurs selected Ingram with the 48th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. A Texas native, Ingram played college basketball at Stanford and North Carolina before entering the draft. Last season, he earned a spot on the All-ACC Third Team.

Ingram participated in the Spurs’ Summer League team this year. Across seven games in the Las Vegas and California showcases, he averaged 10 points, 6.57 rebounds, and 1.43 assists per game, shooting 38.2% from the field and 40.6% from three-point range.

The Spurs’ Busy Offseason This Summer

After finishing 22-60 last season, the Spurs missed the playoffs for the fifth straight year and haven’t had a winning record since 2019. However, things seem to be looking up for San Antonio. Despite their poor record, there was plenty of excitement, especially with rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama making a huge impact. Last year’s No. 1 overall pick lived up to his high expectations, winning the Rookie of the Year award and finishing as the runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year. Now, the Spurs appear focused on contending and returning to the playoffs as soon as possible.

This summer, the Spurs made several moves to support Wembanyama. They signed legendary point guard Chris Paul and former NBA champion Harrison Barnes. Additionally, they drafted guard Stephon Castle with the No. 4 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. While a playoff return next season seems unlikely, especially given the strength of the Western Conference, the Spurs have at least moved up from the bottom tier to the mid-tier in the conference. Although a playoff appearance is improbable, it wouldn’t be entirely surprising to see the team make such a leap next season.

The Last Word on Harrison Ingram

On a two-way contract, Ingram likely won’t see much playing time with the main team. However, it’s evident the Spurs see potential in him, as they signed him to any contract at all. Ingram will probably spend most of his playing time with the Austin Spurs, their G League affiliate, where he can showcase his skills and develop into a potential future role player.
