Breaking News: Guardians Confirm Devastating Injury To Star

Tanner Bibee, the Guardians’ ace, left Cleveland’s game against Detroit after five innings on Wednesday with leg cramps.

Bibee stepped onto the mound to begin the sixth inning, but winced as he prepared to fire his warmup pitches. He stretched for several minutes before applying pressure to his right knee.

After conferring with manager Stephen Vogt and a team trainer, the right-hander left the field and was replaced by Scott Barlow. Vogt stated that Bibee had been affected by cramping during the summer, but not this early in games.

“Tanner is a competitive kid and it’s hot and humid, so we’re working through it,” replied Vogt. “We’re all trying to figure out the best way to prevent this from happening.”

Bibee tossed 67 pitches over five innings, giving up one run on a Matt Vierling home run. The 2023 American League Rookie of the Year runner-up is 8-4 this season with a 3.50 ERA.

Shane Bieber, Cleveland’s primary starter, has already missed the rest of the season due to Tommy John surgery. Triston McKenzie and Logan Allen started the season in the rotation, but both were optioned to Triple-A Columbus.
