Jackson Turley (174) will return to Rutgers for his final season of eligibility in 2024-25. A three-time NCAA qualifier and 2021 All-American, Turley is regarded as one of the top wrestlers in his weight class for the upcoming season.
Turley is one of four All-Americans returning for the Scarlet Knights, alongside John Poznanski (197), Dylan Shawver (133), and Yaraslau Slavikouski (HWT).
The Chester, Virginia native recorded 16 wins last season, including an 11-4 dual record, a 6-2 mark in Big Ten duals, and 47 team points. Turley pinned five opponents and secured eight wins by bonus. At the 2024 Big Ten Championships, he finished fourth as the No. 6 seed, earning four wins on his way to his second Big Ten podium finish. Turley concluded his season with his third career trip to nationals.
Turley has achieved 51 career victories and has qualified for the NCAA Championships three times while at Rutgers. At the 2021 NCAA Championships in St. Louis, he won four consecutive matches to finish eighth and earn his first All-America honor. He is also a two-time Big Ten Championships place winner, finishing seventh in 2023.
Rutgers finished No. 14 in the final NWCA Coaches Poll last season and produced multiple All-Americans for the eighth time in nine seasons under head coach Scott Goodale. Shawver and Slavikouski finished seventh in their weight classes at the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships, marking the 10th time in 11 years Rutgers has had at least one All-American. Eight Scarlet Knights qualified for nationals, the most since 2016 when all 10 starters qualified. Rutgers also finished sixth at the 2024 Big Ten Wrestling Championships, with Shawver winning an individual title, seven conference place winners, and 87.5 team points – their best team result since 2016.
Rutgers ended the dual season with a 12-5 record and a No. 14 ranking in the NWCA Coaches Poll, marking their 12th top-25 finish under Goodale. The Scarlet Knights also ranked in the top six nationally for home attendance, averaging over 4,000 per home dual in 2023-24. Twelve student-athletes earned Winter Academic All-Big Ten recognition, and Poznanski, Slavikouski, and Anthony White were named NWCA Scholar All-Americans.
On the recruiting front, Rutgers signed the No. 4 overall recruiting class in the country, according to Intermat’s final rankings released earlier this summer. This is the highest-rated class under Goodale since the No. 4 class during the 2007-08 cycle.
