Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, and Notre Dame are the contenders for Las Vegas Bishop Gorman’s five-star receiver, who will announce his college commitment on the 247Sports YouTube channel on July 20.
The fight for five-star receiver Derek Meadows has tightened, and the exceptional playmaker has decided to reduce his commitment date.
With finalists Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, and Notre Dame vying for his attention, the Top247 talent from Bishop Gorman will announce his college decision on July 20 at 3 p.m. ET / noon PT on the 247Sports YouTube channel. He was supposed to commit this Saturday, but has opted to postpone the big occasion for another week.
Meadows is the nation’s No. 32 overall prospect, No. 6 wide receiver, and No. 1 player in Nevada for the 2025 class, according to 247Sports.
Meadows’ official visit schedule included stops at Michigan (May 31), Georgia (June 7), Notre Dame (June 14), LSU (June 18), and Alabama (June 21).
“I’m looking at a lot of factors with these institutions,” Meadows told 247Sports recently, “but I know they need a strong quarterback to throw the ball, a great education, and excellent leaders. Overall, I’m looking for the best fit for me and my future.
During the assessment process, the exceptional pass catcher and reigning Gatorade state track and field player of the year had more than 20 offers and swiftly rose to the top of college recruiting boards. Meadows, who stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 200 pounds, ran 36.73 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles.
Meadows recorded 15 receptions for 391 yards and eight touchdowns in ten games as a junior last season. Meadows, a tall and lanky prospect with a wide catch radius, has the most physical upside of any prospect in the West for the cycle.
Meadows was seen in person a few times this summer by 247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins, who believes he has the ability to make an impact at the next level and beyond.
“Meadows is a jumbo receiver and one of the more intriguing players in the 2025 class,” Biggins said in his scouting report. “He has a rare combination of size, athleticism, and body control, and we believe he’s only scratching the surface of his potential. With an 80-inch wingspan, he’s an absolute nightmare for lesser defensive backs and should be an early red zone threat.
He was the Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year as a sophomore and is one of the region’s best hurdlers. He has a large physique, and it wouldn’t surprise us if he develops into a pass-catching tight end who can be devastating versus linebackers and safeties in the center of the field.”
