Washington now has 21 pledges in its 2025 class. It is ranked 17th overall and sixth in the Big Ten, just behind Wisconsin. The last time Washington fielded a top-20 class was in 2020, when it finished 17th nationwide. Four-star Bay Area wide receiver Chris Lawson has committed to the Huskies, causing a leap in the rankings. Washington picked up four player pledges in the previous week, building on its momentum from the end of June.
Bay Area Washington Commits
Two wide receivers from the Bay Area’s 2025 class committed to Washington last week. The latest addition is Lawson, a four-star player ranked in the top 20 in California and 25th among wide receivers in his class. With a 247Sports Composite rating of 0.9125, Lawson is the third-highest-rated player in Washington’s 2025 class, following Zaydrius Rainey-Sale and Vander Ploog.
At Archbishop Riordan, Lawson amassed 969 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior last fall. Over his varsity career, including his time at Foothill High School in Pleasanton, California, he has accumulated 2,534 receiving yards and 32 touchdowns, averaging 76 receiving yards per game. Additionally, Lawson plays cornerback and has over 100 career tackles through his junior season.
Another Bay Area commit, three-star Deji Ajose, announced his decision on social media at the end of June. Ajose, listed as an athlete, ranks in the top 40 of his position nationally. As a junior, he recorded 55 catches for 669 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Ajose also played linebacker and safety in high school. Both Ajose and Lawson are among the top 50 players in California.
Versatile Texas Native Commits to Washington
Last month, Ramonz Adams decommitted from Texas Tech, a program he had committed to in November 2023. Over three years at Smithville High School in Texas, Adams demonstrated impressive versatility by playing multiple positions. As a junior, he amassed over 1,800 all-purpose yards, including more than 700 passing yards. He scored 14 touchdowns, with five each from passing, rushing, and receiving. Defensively, Adams excelled at cornerback, recording eight interceptions, nearly one per game.
The three-star recruit will play his senior season at Bastrop High School. Standing at 6′-1″, Adams has the ideal frame for modern defensive backs and is being recruited primarily as a cornerback. His athleticism and versatility make him a promising addition to the Washington defense, offering significant potential for growth and impact.
Another Washington Native Stays Home
A key priority of recruiting is always to secure your home state. The Husky class presently includes the top two players in the state, as well as Washington’s sixth and eleventh-ranked prospects. It now ranks seventh in Lowen Colman-Brusa. The offensive tackle graduated from Kennedy Catholic High School in Burien, Washington, and is rated three stars. Colman-Brusa is a left tackle with strong blocking abilities. His physicality overwhelms defenders in the run game, repeatedly putting defensive linemen on their backs. Colman-Brusa also has strong footwork for pass protection. The latest Husky commitment stands 6’5″ and weighs 285 pounds at tackle. He is tall, and he will have room to grow into his frame in college.
