The New York Yankees have adapted impressively since losing Juan Soto to the New York Mets. General manager Brian Cashman has bolstered the roster by acquiring Max Fried, Devin Williams, Cody Bellinger, and Paul Goldschmidt. The Yankees’ next potential target could be San Diego Padres infielder.
Goldschmidt, signed to a one-year, $12.5 million deal, addresses the Yankees’ need at first base, but the infield still requires attention. With second baseman Gleyber Torres likely departing in free agency, Cashman must either secure a replacement at second base or consider adding a third baseman, such as Alex Bregman, while moving Jazz Chisholm Jr. to second.
Harrison Bruns of Just Baseball identified the Yankees as a top trade destination for Arráez, praising his fit in the lineup ahead of Aaron Judge. “Last season, the Yankees had Soto hitting in front of Judge, which is irreplaceable. However, a player consistently in the batting title race is a great alternative,” Bruns explained.
Arráez is a three-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger who has claimed batting titles in each of the last three seasons with three different teams. He hit .316 with the Twins in 2022, .354 with the Marlins in 2023, and a combined .314 in 2024 while splitting time between Miami and San Diego. Set to earn $13.7 million in 2025, his final arbitration year, Arráez’s market value is estimated by Spotrac at nine years and $154 million for a long-term deal.
