LATEST: K-State ‘standout’ football star announces shocking decision to leave team

One of Kansas State’s top running backs of all time is on his way out. He revealed on Saturday that he will forego his last year of college eligibility and enter the 2025 NFL Draft. The Junction City product leaves K-State after a standout career that included 3,087 yards and 23 touchdowns as a rusher.

In the history of Kansas State football, only two players have ran for more yards: Darren Sproles and Deuce Vaughn. Giddens was at his best this season, totaling 1,601 yards of offense and seven touchdowns. He was chosen to the All-Big 12 second team after the regular season ended.

When Giddens committed to K-State as an obscure recruit with no star ranking or other scholarship offers, nobody expected him to have such a successful career. But the Wildcats sensed potential in him, which he realized while playing under Chris Klieman. It’ll be intriguing to see how Giddens develops as a pro potential. He is primarily known for his power running, but he also demonstrated breakaway speed this season. K-State fans hoped Giddens would return for another year, but it was not to be.

“I believe that everything I’ve been through in my life has led me to this exact moment in time,” Giddens said. He was “ready to chase my dream of playing in the National Football League.” The Wildcats will likely rely on Dylan Edwards and Joe Jackson to replace his talents next season. But it will not be simple. Giddens made his mark on the Kansas State record books.
