Two years ago, Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry bolstered his receiving corps by adding Da’Quan Felton, Ali Jennings, and Jaylin Lane from the transfer portal. Felton and Lane became integral pieces of the Hokies’ offense over the past two seasons, while Jennings showed glimpses of his potential despite struggling with injuries.
This season, Felton emerged as a key target for quarterbacks Kyron Drones, Collin Schlee, and Pop Watson. After transferring from Norfolk State, Felton made a significant impact during his two seasons in Blacksburg. He has announced his decision to declare for the NFL Draft, marking the next step in his football journey.
Da’Quan Felton declares for NFL Draft
Virginia Tech had a quiet showing in last year’s NFL Draft, but that won’t be the case this April, even after another 6-6 season. One Hokie looking to make the leap to the next level is wide receiver Da’Quan Felton, who announced via Instagram on Tuesday night that he is declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft, which will take place in Green Bay.
Felton’s participation in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on Jan. 3 against Minnesota remains uncertain, but he has received an invitation to the prestigious Senior Bowl next month, offering him a chance to showcase his skills in front of NFL scouts.
This season, Felton’s production dipped slightly, recording 32 receptions for 360 yards and two touchdowns. However, his first season at Virginia Tech showcased his playmaking ability, with 38 catches for 667 yards and eight touchdowns, including a memorable 84-yard touchdown in the regular-season finale against Virginia. That critical play secured the Hokies’ bowl eligibility. Against Virginia this season, Felton made two catches for 50 yards, highlighted by a 42-yard grab from quarterback Pop Watson. Earlier in the season, he hauled in a 55-yard touchdown in a commanding 31-7 win over Stanford on Oct. 5.
As Felton prepares for the draft, his combination of size, speed, and big-play ability will undoubtedly attract attention from NFL teams.
