Breaking News: Buffalo Bills announce ‘historical’ new ownership

The Buffalo Bills and owner Terry Pegula are excited to announce the addition of 10 limited partners to the team’s ownership group. These non-controlling minority stakes were officially approved earlier today at the NFL meetings in Dallas, Texas, marking the first time in franchise history that minority owners have joined the organization.

The new limited partners, pending the finalization of agreements, include:

  • Arctos: A private investment firm specializing in tailored growth and liquidity solutions, strategic partnerships, and value creation for sports franchises.
  • Rob Palumbo: Co-managing partner at Accel-KKR, a private equity firm focused on technology.
  • Sue McCollum: CEO and owner of beverage distribution companies Eagle Brand Sales and Double Eagle Distributing.
  • Theresia Gouw: Co-founder and managing partner of venture capital firm Acrew Capital.
  • Rob Ward: Co-founder and general partner at venture capital firm Meritech Capital.
  • Mike Joo: COO of Global Corporate & Investment Banking and Head of North America Corporate & Investment Banking at Bank of America.
  • Tom Burger: Co-founder and managing partner at Gridiron Capital, an investment firm.
  • Vince Carter: Former NBA player and Basketball Hall of Fame inductee.
  • Tracy McGrady: Former NBA player and Basketball Hall of Fame inductee.
  • Jozy Altidore: Former U.S. National Team soccer player and MLS champion.

The Buffalo Bills have welcomed a diverse group of limited partners, reflecting a blend of expertise from business, sports, and entertainment. Many of these individuals have personal ties to the Bills and strong connections to key regions important to the organization.

A highlight of this development is the team’s partnership with Arctos, representing one of the first private equity investments in an NFL franchise. As the only firm authorized to invest across all five major North American sports leagues, Arctos has a notable presence in professional sports, with investments spanning the NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS, NASCAR, the English Premier League, and Formula One. Founded in 2019, Arctos brings a distinctive approach to sports investing, leveraging operational expertise, a network of seasoned advisors, and its advanced data analytics platform, Arctos Insights.

“This has been an extraordinary journey to bring on such an impressive and diverse group of limited partners, along with a respected private equity partner like Arctos, which has a proven track record with professional sports franchises,” said Bills Owner/CEO Terry Pegula.

“Our new partners have achieved remarkable success in their industries, and we’re grateful for their shared interest in our team, our sport, and the future of the Buffalo Bills. Many of them have personal connections to our team, Western New York, or Southern Ontario, which was a key consideration for me.”

Pegula also expressed gratitude to those who supported the process, including individuals from Allen & Company, the NFL, Proskauer, the Bills organization, and his family office team. He noted that the effort was truly a collaborative one, involving countless contributors behind the scenes.
