Kameron Olds, once a preferred walk-on (PWO) commit for Virginia Tech, has officially earned a full scholarship offer to join the Hokies football program. The announcement marks a significant milestone for the young player, whose dedication and on-field performances have caught the attention of the coaching staff.

Olds, a standout linebacker from Brookwood High School in Snellville, Georgia, initially committed to the Hokies as a PWO earlier this year. His impressive athleticism, football IQ, and leadership qualities made him a promising addition to Virginia Tech’s roster, even as a non-scholarship player. However, his progression throughout his senior season proved he was more than deserving of a scholarship.

“Kameron embodies everything we look for in a Hokie,” said head coach Brent Pry in a statement. “His work ethic, talent, and passion for the game make him a perfect fit for what we’re building here in Blacksburg. We’re thrilled to officially offer him a scholarship and can’t wait to see what he’ll accomplish as part of our program.”

Olds, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker, has been known for his versatility on defense, excelling both in run support and pass coverage. During his senior season, he recorded over 100 tackles, several tackles for loss, and a handful of interceptions, showcasing his playmaking ability. His performance helped Brookwood High School reach the playoffs and solidified his reputation as a rising star.

 

 

The offer from Virginia Tech comes as the Hokies continue to bolster their 2024 recruiting class.
