The Juan Soto sweepstakes appears to have narrowed to five teams: the Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, New York Mets, and Los Angeles Dodgers. According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, all remaining bidders have offered contracts exceeding $600 million, though the exact figures remain undisclosed.
Soto’s agent, Scott Boras, revealed that the star outfielder has started the process of eliminating teams. “When you’re going through these things, he’s just got a lot of information to meld through,” Boras said. “We’ve had meetings with a number of franchises. He’s begun the process of eliminating teams and doing things. Juan is a very methodical thinker, so we’ll see, but I don’t think anything is imminent in the near future.”
Boras’ comments suggest Soto may be ranking his preferences or potentially cutting teams from consideration entirely. However, no definitive information has surfaced. With speculation mounting, Soto is expected to make his decision within the next week or two, likely signing a deal worth well over $600 million with one of the remaining teams.
