The Green Bay Packers may see the return of two key players for their next Football matchup against the Detroit Lions. Wide receiver and cornerback were both limited participants in the Packers’ December 2 practice, a positive sign as they prepare for the NFC North clash.
Top cornerback has contributed 16 tackles and 2 interceptions this season, while Doubs has recorded 34 catches for 483 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Several other players appeared on the practice report. Running back Josh Jacobs, who has been nursing a calf injury, was also limited but is expected to play Thursday, per NBC Sports. Jacobs has dealt with nagging injuries but has managed to suit up in the past two games.
Meanwhile, linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (hamstring) and offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins (knee) did not practice. Limited participants included offensive lineman Josh Myers (pectoral), linebacker Isaiah McDuffie (ankle), tackle Rasheed Walker (knee), and defensive lineman Colby Wooden (shoulder). Defensive lineman Kenny Clark was given a rest day.
The Packers will need all hands on deck as they face a strong Lions team in a critical divisional matchup.
Romeo Doubs Suffered a Concussion Against the 49ers, While Jaire Alexander Is Recovering From a Knee Injury
Romeo Doubs and Jaire Alexander’s status for the Green Bay Packers’ Thursday Night Football game against the Detroit Lions remains uncertain as they continue recovering from injuries.
Doubs missed the Packers’ Week 13 Thanksgiving win over the Miami Dolphins due to a concussion sustained during the Week 12 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. He remains in concussion protocol and will need clearance from an independent neurologist to play against the Lions, according to the Packers.
Alexander has been dealing with a PCL tear in his knee, initially suffered in the Packers’ Week 8 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. After missing Week 9 against the Lions, he returned for Week 11 against the Chicago Bears but exited after just 10 plays due to reaggravation.
Speaking to The Athletic, Alexander shared the challenges of his recovery: “I stayed here the whole bye week trying to hopefully come back and make an impact for the team. It was a game-time decision, so we didn’t know until a few minutes before the game if I would play or not.” On leaving the Bears game, he explained, “I felt something. … I reaggravated it, so now we’re just trying to get my knee back right.”
Alexander did not practice in the days leading up to the Thanksgiving game and his availability for Thursday remains a question mark as the Packers prepare for this crucial divisional matchup.
On the Lions Side, Several Key Players Missed Practice
The Detroit Lions could be without several key players for their Thursday Night Football matchup against the Green Bay Packers, as indicated in Monday’s practice report.
Left tackle Taylor Decker remains sidelined with a knee injury. Decker missed Detroit’s Thanksgiving win over the Chicago Bears and was replaced by Dan Skipper. Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson expressed optimism about Decker’s potential return, saying, “He’s a guy that has played a lot of football, so if there’s a chance he could make it, he might not need to practice that week.”
The Lions’ defensive line is also facing depth concerns, with DJ Reader (shoulder), Josh Paschal (knee), and Levi Onwuzurike (hamstring) all missing practice.
In response to these injuries, the Lions bolstered their roster by signing defensive lineman Myles Adams (Seattle’s practice squad), linebacker Kwon Alexander (Denver’s practice squad), and defensive lineman Jonah Williams (Los Angeles Rams’ practice squad), as noted by Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com.
Additionally, the Lions recently added three-time All-Pro safety Jamal Adams to their practice squad. Adams, formerly of the New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks, was spotted working out with Detroit’s linebackers after joining the team, according to Lions Wire.
Detroit will need these reinforcements to address its injury challenges heading into this pivotal NFC North showdown.
