BREAKING: Mets Signs Alabama’s Jalen Milroe To Replace $112 Million MVP QB

The Alabama Crimson Tide are waiting to see if they secure a spot in the College Football Playoff after finishing the regular season 9-3 with a 28-14 victory over Auburn. Quarterback Jalen Milroe led the charge in Week 14, showcasing his rushing skills with 104 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries, bringing his season total to 20 rushing touchdowns. While Alabama’s playoff chances take center stage, there is also speculation about the future of their redshirt junior quarterback. If Milroe declares for the 2025 NFL Draft, he could be selected in the first or second round. Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikkema recently released a three-round mock draft, predicting Milroe might join the New York Jets as a potential successor to 40-year-old Aaron Rodgers. However, the scenario comes with an unexpected twist.

Trevor Sikkema projected Jalen Milroe to be selected at No. 38 overall in the second round, while the New York Jets used their No. 6 pick on Michigan cornerback Will Johnson. Sikkema noted, “If the Jets lose D.J. Reed in free agency, addressing the cornerback position in the draft will become a priority.” He highlighted Johnson’s exceptional size and coverage abilities, describing him as one of the best cornerback prospects of the past five years when healthy, despite injury setbacks in 2024.

Sikkema’s mock draft also placed Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders at No. 2 to the Las Vegas Raiders and Miami’s Cam Ward at No. 3 to the New York Giants. Meanwhile, Bleacher Report echoed Milroe’s second-round projection, likening him to “a more explosive Jalen Hurts with a stronger arm.”

As for Aaron Rodgers, neither he nor the Jets have confirmed his plans for 2025, though his 21st season remains uncertain after a challenging year. The four-time MVP has one season left on his three-year, $112.5 million contract, with Spotrac estimating a $23.5 million cap hit for next year.
