Kansas State has a new coach. Gene Taylor, the athletic director at K-State, has chosen Colleen Corbin, a former Mountain West coach of the year, to lead the program. She will become the school’s second coach, after Mike Dibbini, who stepped down last month for health concerns. Corbin has committed to a five-year contract with the Wildcats, having previously worked at Wyoming and Saint Louis.
“We are thrilled to welcome Colleen to K-State as the new leader of our soccer program,” Taylor stated in an announcement. “She has a proven track record of building and leading a championship program as evidenced by her time at Wyoming, and her most recent tenure at Saint Louis allowed her the opportunity to grow even more as a coach and put her stamp on an already established and high-level program.”
Corbin served as Saint Louis’ associate head coach this past season. Corbin led the Billikens to a 15-2-6 overall record, including a 7-0-3 Atlantic 10 record and a conference championship that earned her team a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
The Billikens advanced to the second round of the competition with a 1-0 victory over Kansas.
Previously, Corbin was the head coach at Wyoming. She led that team to a shared conference victory in 2022, earning her the Mountain West Coach of the Year award.
“I am honored and thrilled to have the privilege of being named the next head coach of the Kansas State women’s soccer team,” Corbin told the crowd. “I’d like to personally thank Gene Taylor, Jill Shields, and Matt Thomason for their dedication and intention throughout the hiring process, as well as their faith in me and belief in the K-State soccer program.
It is clear that there are tools in place to help K-State women’s soccer succeed, as well as an immensely supportive community that is thrilled about our team and the potential for future growth and success.”
