The Buffalo Bills had a bye week before facing the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, and star quarterback Josh Allen used the opportunity to take a significant personal step. According to an Instagram post on Friday by Allen and his girlfriend Hailee Steinfeld, the couple is engaged. With the announcement public, Allen will undoubtedly be searching for some triumphs to celebrate. The Niners, on the other hand, hope to play spoiler.
The couple was initially photographed dating in 2023, but has largely avoided camera attention and kept their romance quiet.
Steinfeld has been performing in Hollywood since she was a child, and her big break came when she was 13 years old, in True Grit. Steinfeld grew up to be a well-known actress, most notably appearing in Pitch Perfect and voicing Gwen Stacy in the Spider-Verse films. She has also achieved some recognition as a musician, having released a song with Shawn Mendes in 2015 and following EPs of her own.
It’s always a good reminder of the relative celebrity of pop culture figures in comparison to athletes. Despite the NFL’s enormous popularity and Allen’s indisputable success as one of the league’s finest quarterbacks, his girlfriend has more than ten times as many Instagram followers (20.3 million to 1.4 million).
