Breaking News: Virginia Tech Top Star Decommits rom Program

Four-star quarterback Peyton Falzone announced Wednesday that he has decided to decommit from Virginia Tech.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound junior from Nazareth, Pennsylvania, initially committed to the Hokies in June. However, with Virginia Tech struggling to a 5-6 record this season, Falzone has been exploring other options. Over the past month, he has visited Ohio State and Penn State and is scheduled to visit Iowa and Syracuse this week.

“After much thought and reflection, I have made the difficult decision to decommit from Virginia Tech,” Peyton Falzone shared in a statement on X. “From the very beginning, my family and I were welcomed with love and respect by the entire staff at Virginia Tech. I am incredibly grateful to Coach (Brent) Pry, Coach (Tyler) Bowen, and the entire Hokie family for believing in me and supporting my development. Blacksburg and the Hokies will always hold a special place in my heart.

“After discussing with my family, I realized that it was important to make this change. It didn’t feel right to continue visiting other schools while being committed to Virginia Tech. I owe it to myself, my family, and the programs recruiting me to be fully engaged in every opportunity during this pivotal time.

“By reopening my recruitment, I’m excited to embrace the next steps in this journey. This offseason, I’m committed to working hard not only to improve as a quarterback but also as a teammate and leader. This new chapter represents an opportunity for growth, and I’m eager to see what the future holds.”

Peyton Falzone is ranked as the No. 15 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class and the No. 181 overall prospect in the nation, according to On3.com’s composite industry rankings. The Nazareth junior noted the strong connection between his high school program and Penn State, where former Nazareth standouts Jahan Dotson and Jake Wilson once played.

“I’ve been attending Penn State games since I was a kid,” Falzone told On3.com. “Beaver Stadium always offers an incredible atmosphere. It was a great experience to visit, especially with my sister and dad. I’m glad I got to see the PSU offense in action.”

This season, Falzone delivered an impressive performance, throwing for 2,136 yards and 23 touchdowns while also rushing for 743 yards and eight scores. In addition to Virginia Tech and Penn State, his offers include Wisconsin, Syracuse, Bucknell, and Lehigh, per 247Sports.com.
