The Buffalo Bills have nominated quarterback for the 11th annual Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, the NFL announced today. Each team selects one player for this award, which honors outstanding sportsmanship in the league.
Established in 2014, the award pays tribute to Art Rooney Sr., the late founding owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers and a Pro Football Hall of Famer. It is given annually to a player who exemplifies on-field sportsmanship through fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition.
A panel of former players from the NFL Legends Community will choose eight finalists—four from the AFC and four from the NFC—out of the 32 nominees. These finalists will appear on the Pro Bowl ballot under the NFL Sportsmanship Award category for players to vote in December.
The winner will be announced during the NFL Honors event before the Super Bowl and will receive a $25,000 donation from the NFL Foundation to a charity of their choice.
