The Pittsburgh Penguins traded a fourth-round pick in the 2027 draft to the Nashville Predators on Monday to acquire center Philip Tomasino.
The trade provides the struggling Pittsburgh Penguins with another young talent as they aim to rebound from their worst start in 20 years.
Philip Tomasino, 23, had one point in 11 games for the Predators this season. A first-round pick in the 2019 draft, Tomasino has recorded 23 goals and 48 assists in 159 NHL games since debuting with Nashville in the 2021-22 season.
The Penguins traded a fourth-round pick, originally from the New York Rangers, to Nashville in exchange for Philip Tomasino.
Pittsburgh is enduring its worst start in nearly 20 years, sitting at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division with an NHL-worst minus-34 goal differential.
Despite some highlights, such as Sidney Crosby joining the 600-goal club over the weekend, general manager Kyle Dubas appears to be embracing a long-overdue youth movement for one of the league’s oldest teams. Earlier this month, he traded veteran center Lars Eller to Washington in exchange for multiple draft picks.
