Carolina Panthers tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders has been released from the hospital after a frightening incident during Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Sanders received a ball from Panthers quarterback Bryce Young in the flat before being tackled by Chiefs defender Trent McDuffie.
The tight end landed on his head, causing his neck to bend and leaving him on the ground.
Sanders was carried off the field following a lengthy stoppage and medical care from the Panthers’ training staff.
Sanders lifted his arms to the crowd as he was taken away, signaling to followers that he was fine.
He was sent to a hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina, for additional evaluation. Sanders has since been discharged, according to head coach Dave Canales, and his extremities are moving again.
Carolina selected Sanders with the 101st choice in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Sanders, a Texas product, has 29 receptions on 35 targets this season for 302 yards and one touchdown.
The 3-8 Panthers played the 10-1 Chiefs to the wire at home, fueled by a remarkable second-half comeback after trailing 20-9 at halftime.
