Breaking News: Paul Finebaum Calls Out The CFP Committee For Not Respecting Georgia

Another week of college football action has wrapped up, bringing with it the latest College Football Playoff rankings. Following their home victory over Tennessee, Georgia climbed two spots to No. 10 in the committee’s rankings.

While this move places Georgia back in the 12-team playoff bracket as the 11th seed, many believe the Bulldogs deserve far more respect, particularly when compared to some of the teams ranked above them.

Georgia fans aren’t the only ones questioning the rankings. When even neutral observers agree, it underscores the frustration. ESPN’s Paul Finebaum echoed these sentiments during Tuesday’s coverage, criticizing the committee’s choices.

“This committee is not serious,” Finebaum said. “There are football coaches on this committee, and there’s no way they can tell me or anyone else with a straight face that Indiana, Penn State, or Miami are better than Georgia.”

Georgia deserves to be ranked higher

Paul Finebaum, along with many others across the country, believes Georgia deserves a higher ranking. The Bulldogs boast the No. 1 strength of schedule and an impressive trio of wins over Clemson, Texas, and Tennessee. Yet, somehow, teams like Penn State, Miami (FL), and Indiana are ranked ahead of them.

While those teams are in the CFP conversation because they remain undefeated or have just one loss, their resumes lack substance. None of the three have secured a marquee win this season, which is notable after playing 10 games. In contrast, Georgia has consistently proven its strength, even with two losses on its record.

The committee must start valuing teams with significant victories rather than focusing solely on records. A team’s overall record is only part of the picture; their competition and results against top-tier opponents paint the full story.

When you take a closer look, it’s clear that Georgia’s resume is far more impressive than that of Penn State, Miami, or Indiana.
