A top recruit in the 2026 class from Wisconsin, visited Syracuse basketball this weekend and got a scholarship offer from the Orange staff, he said on his X page.
The 6-foot-6 Karvala, a four-star small forward in the junior cycle, just made one of the most significant jumps in the country when recruiting service and media company On3 updated their 2026 rankings in early October, moving into the top 55 overall.
Karvala attends Oregon High School in Oregon, Wisconsin. Another Wisconsin prospect, three-star wing Aaron Womack of Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wis., signed with Syracuse in the 2025 class last week, according to SU Athletics.
Karvala played at a high level for Milwaukee-based Team Herro’s 16U squad in Nike’s EYBL competition from late April to late May during the most recent AAU regular season. During that period, he averaged 13.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
According to recruiting services, Karvala has scholarship offers from Arizona State, Marquette, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, Arkansas State, and Northern Michigan, in addition to Syracuse.
Following On3’s recent update to its top 150 for the 2026 class, Karvala jumped 64 ranks, from No. 117 to No. 53 nationally. On3 ranks him as the No. 18 small forward and the No. 1 talent from Wisconsin in his cycle.
When I wrote this essay, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite ranked Karvala as four stars, No. 113 nationally, No. 40 at small forward, and No. 1 in Wisconsin.
To date, I’m aware of at least 15 high school juniors who have received Orange offers, though the Syracuse staff is unlikely to be aggressively pursuing all of them right now. In recent weeks, Syracuse basketball granted scholarships to three 2026 prospects from CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix.
They include four-star guard Rokiem Green, four-star center Aliou Dioum, and four-star point guard Miles Sadler.
Other juniors that appear to be top priorities for the Orange in this class are five-star shooting guard Jordan Smith Jr., five-star guard/small forward Alex Constanza, and five-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr., among others.
