Ten games into the 2024 season, the Kansas State football program is having a great showing. The Wildcats are 7-3 despite a difficult setback against the Arizona State Sun Devils. Sixth-year coach Chris Klieman has been an integral part of Kansas State’s success, and he addressed rumors of his retirement during a press conference in mid-November.
When a reporter inquired if there was any truth to the idea that Klieman would soon return, he emphatically denied:
“I don’t know where you got that from,” Klieman told Kellis Robinett of Kansas.com. “I haven’t said that to anybody.”
Chris Klieman appears to intend to remain with the Kansas State football team in order to help it achieve more success. The head coach wants the program to be as successful as possible under his supervision. Klieman has, however, dealt with personal troubles off the field, as Kellis Robinett has stated. Klieman believes his family life is better.
“Probably the biggest struggle for me right now is not having family around,” Klieman told Robineet. “Everyone in this building, both upstairs and downstairs, has gone out of their way to help us with our circumstance. The spouses have all been extremely supportive in our current circumstance.
“It stinks.” I’ll be honest: it does. However, being around by those who care and love (my wife) and me makes it easier. It isn’t easy, but it makes things easier. Some wonderful things are starting to happen for us, and we’re going to pray about it and understand that there are some good things going forth.”
It’s fantastic to hear that Klieman is doing better. The Kansas State football team’s College Football Playoff dreams may not be realized in 2024-25, but there is still hope that the club will make a deep run under Klieman’s leadership in the future.
