With top star QB leading the offense, the Carolina Panthers have secured two consecutive wins. As they head into their bye week, the team isn’t expected to make any changes at quarterback.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Carolina was pleased with his performance in their Week 10 victory over the New York Giants. Although he threw for 45 fewer yards, Young was efficient, showing improvement in the pocket. This progress has encouraged the Panthers to likely continue with him at quarterback.
Despite the recent wins, head coach Dave Canales has not committed to naming Young as the permanent starter. Whether it’s a strategic move or part of his coaching approach, Canales is keeping his decision private. Given the recent successes, it’s understandable why he’s inclined to stick with Young.
Young, the first overall pick in the draft, struggled early in his NFL career and currently holds a 4-17 record as a starter. While some blame lies with him, the Panthers haven’t built a strong supporting team around him. Earlier in the season, Canales benched Young in favor of veteran Andy Dalton, aiming to send a clear message.
