Breaking: Kansas State Lands Blockbuster Commitment for Two Top Talented Stars

Kansas State’s head coach announced Wednesday the signing of two players, one American and one international, who will join the Wildcats in time for the 2025-26 season.

The two most recent Wildcats are Stalee Fields (Fort Worth, Texas) and ShiXin (Casey) Kang (Lanzhou, China).

Fields is now ranked 71st nationwide in the American rankings, following two victories this summer. Fields won the Patrick Reed AJGA Junior in June at The Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands, Texas, shooting 9-under par 207 over 54 holes.

She shot three rounds under par, including a 69 in the second round and a 68 in the field round, to win by two shots. Three weeks later, Fields won the Shane Bacon Junior Championship at Pine Dunes Resort & Golf Club in Frankston, Texas, by ten shots. Fields’ winning score of 3-under par 213 was the result of a 69 in the first round and a 68 in the second round.

Fields, a Hebron High School graduate, won the Texas 6A Regional Championship in 2023-24 and the District Championship in 2022-23.

She was a member of a team that won the district and regional championships before placing fifth at state in 2021-22, while the Hawks finished third at regionals and tenth at state in 2022-23.

“We are really excited to have Stalee join us next fall,” Burke told me. “She is a proven AJGA winner who impressed us during the recruiting process with the technical improvements she has made to her game, as well as her competitive maturity. We believe she will be an excellent addition, and we expect her to fit straight into our starting lineup from the outset.”

Kang won four junior or amateur races in Thailand while attending the International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She also won the Feng ShanShan International Junior Championship, which earned her an exemption to the CLPGA 2024 Singapore Ladies Masters.

“Casey has been on our radar for a long time,” Burke added. “I couldn’t be happier that we were able to defeat a number of colleges for her signature. We appreciate that she participates frequently in junior, amateur, and professional tournaments throughout Asia, and that she is determined and eager to get pro after graduation.

“This class of Stalee and Casey is going to be the strongest class we have brought in at K-State since we arrived, and we look forward to welcoming them both on campus this fall.”

The Wildcats, who are placed 30th in the most recent National Collegiate Golf Rankings, return to action on February 2-4 at the Grand Reserve GC in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, for the Puerto Rico Classic.
