Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills’ standout quarterback, was brutally honest about his longstanding animosity with the Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes and company will go to Buffalo on Sunday for an AFC heavyweight matchup. The two elite quarterbacks became starting for their respective organizations in 2018 and have faced seven times.
While Mahomes is 1-3 versus Buffalo in the regular season, he has won all three playoff meetings between the two teams. When Bills beat reporter Joe Buscaglia inquired about his regular-season success versus the Chiefs, Allen focused on his postseason losses.
“Well, I understand we haven’t beaten them in the playoffs. And it is the only thing that really matters.”
The Buffalo Bills can get squarely back in the race for the AFC No. 1 seed
Josh Allen has propelled himself into MVP consideration over the last few weeks. This season, the two-time Pro Bowler has thrown 17 touchdown passes and four interceptions, with the league’s fifth-best QBR. At 8-2, the Bills have basically sealed up the AFC East. Despite the fact that a home playoff game is almost certainly guaranteed, Buffalo still has a lot to play for in the future.
The current No. 2 seed in the AFC is a game and a half away from earning home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. If Josh Allen’s side wins against Kansas City, Buffalo will need its rival to lose one more game to move into first place. This is expected to happen as the Chiefs begin to struggle more against their opponents.
Despite this probability, the Bills have a number of difficult games coming ahead. Buffalo will host last year’s Super Bowl teams in their next two games before traveling to face the Los Angeles Rams and the red-hot Detroit Lions.
While Josh Allen’s season ended last year at Highmark Stadium against Patrick Mahomes, getting home field advantage remains critical for the Bills. Buffalo has yet to lose a game at Orchard Park this season and has one of the NFL’s most enthusiastic fanbases. Keeping that home record pristine against the two-time reigning champs is vital not only for the AFC Conference’s No. 1 seed race, but also for Josh Allen and his team’s belief that they can bring down the dynasty in January.
