The Carolina Panthers have released former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker , whom they signed off the Steelers’ practice squad a month ago. Following his release, Windmon returned to Carolina’s practice squad.
An undrafted rookie from Michigan State, initially missed the Steelers’ 53-man roster despite a strong preseason performance. He joined their practice squad as a versatile edge rusher and linebacker.
In his three games with the Panthers, Windmon primarily contributed on special teams, recording two tackles. Now back on a practice squad, he aims to refine his skills.
A key question for Windmon is finding his ideal position. The Steelers mostly used him as an off-ball linebacker, but he displayed potential as a pass-rushing outside linebacker when injuries arose. Settling into a specific role could be crucial for his long-term spot on an NFL roster.
