Panthers wide receiver might be out for the season following a worrying Week 10 status update. This news adds to a challenging season for Carolina under first-year head coach Dave Canales. The team has struggled with quarterback instability between starter Bryce Young and backup Andy Dalton, leaving the Panthers near the bottom of the NFC standings.
His situation only compounds the team’s troubles. According to Joe Person of The Athletic, Thielen is set to miss Sunday’s game against the Giants, a development that raises concerns about the wideout’s season potentially being cut short for a specific reason.
Adam Thielen’s season is likely coming to an end
Since September 22, Thielen has been recovering from a hamstring injury, facing a strict deadline to return or miss the rest of the season. This urgency arises because on October 23, the Panthers activated him off Injured Reserve, opening a 21-day practice window.
Despite being activated, Thielen hasn’t made it back on the field. If he doesn’t play before the practice window closes, he’ll be sidelined for the season. Sunday’s game in Munich marks his final opportunity to return within this timeframe.
Losing Thielen for 2024 would be a significant setback for the Panthers. The veteran wide receiver, who surpassed 1,000 receiving yards last season, was expected to play a key role in building Bryce Young’s confidence in his second year.
