It wasn’t a shock when five-star recruit Koa Peat officially eliminated Duke Basketball from his list on Tuesday. The 6-foot-9, 235-pound forward from Perry High School in Arizona had initially planned an official visit to Durham, but after multiple delays and watching Duke bring in other high-level players for his position, he never made the trip.
Peat, the son of former NFL offensive lineman Todd Peat, narrowed his list down to Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Houston, and Texas. He did not provide a specific timeline for his decision. Peat is currently ranked No. 6 overall in the 247Sports 2025 Composite.
While Duke missed out on Peat, they are still leading in the 2025 recruiting class, which includes four early commitments: Shelton Henderson (five-star forward, Bellaire High School, Texas), Nikolas Khamenia (four-star forward, Harvard-Westlake School, California), and twins Cayden and Cameron Boozer (five-star guard and forward, Columbus High School, Florida). If this class holds, it will be Duke’s third No. 1 recruiting class in the Jon Scheyer era.
