The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team were missing Chance Westry in their season opening against Le Moyne, as Jon Rothstein initially reported. Westry, who missed preseason practice due to sickness, will have to wait till he returns for an official game.
Westry missed both Syracuse exhibition games due to illness. After missing the entire season last year due to a knee ailment, he was cleared to play basketball at Syracuse this summer.
Westry, a second-year Syracuse player, transferred after spending his freshman season at Auburn. His season with the Tigers terminated after 11 games due to an injury to the opposite knee he suffered at Syracuse. He was a former top-40 recruit for the class of 2022.
Westry was present in the JMA Wireless Dome on Monday night, although he did not warm up alongside the team. Westry, a versatile 6-foot-6 guard, is likely to play numerous positions at Syracuse when he returns.
