Bills GM Delivers Insight Into Trade Deadline Plans vs. Chiefs

A rivalry does not need to be between teams from the same division. In the case of the Buffalo Bills, their standing as a contender in a stacked AFC implies that other strong contenders, such as the Kansas City Chiefs or Baltimore Ravens, will be at the forefront of their minds above all others.

Every signing, trade, or roster move is conducted with the goal of allowing Buffalo to overcome those teams. Buffalo isn’t finished with its deadline preparations just yet, despite trading for Amari Cooper and joining the other conference contenders in an effort to get over the playoff hump. So long as the rest of the conference hasn’t concluded.

“Listen, you’re competitive,” Bills general manager Brandon Beane remarked. “You never want another team to improve, whether it’s in your division or an AFC rival. Again, we are wired competitively. However, we must constantly prioritize our team’s needs. That is, whether we swap with another club or anything.People were upset with us during the draft for dealing with the Chiefs or whatever, and in the end, they made a move that they thought fit their squad, and we made a move–and that’s what was funny: there can be positive moves for both teams. It does not have to be a winner or a loser.”

Buffalo’s injury report remains substantial, so there are numerous voids on the roster that they could attempt to fill with an acquisition in the coming days. Will it be enough to overtake clubs like the Chiefs and Ravens? That depends on what those franchises do for themselves.
