The Buffalo Bills return home for a crucial Week 9 division matchup, hosting the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins will have quarterback Tua Tagovailoa back in action after he recovered from the concussion he suffered against Buffalo in Week 2. The Bills are riding high after a decisive 31-10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, while Miami fell to 2-5 following a loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
With a strong lead in the AFC East, the Bills now have an opportunity to widen that gap further by defeating Miami. Considering Buffalo’s offseason moves, few anticipated such a commanding performance in the division through the first eight weeks.
Part of Buffalo’s transformation involved parting with longtime veterans who contributed to the team’s winning culture under head coach Sean McDermott. Among them was safety Jordan Poyer, who, along with Micah Hyde, had formed one of the league’s top safety duos since both joined Buffalo in 2017. Their dynamic partnership anchored the defense for years, creating countless memorable moments for Bills fans.
However, financial constraints forced Buffalo to make tough roster decisions, and Poyer was among those released. He later signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins, Buffalo’s division rival—a tough reality for fans. Fortunately, the Bills have maintained stability at safety with Taylor Rapp and Damar Hamlin stepping up this season. Still, seeing Poyer in a Dolphins uniform is a surreal sight for Buffalo loyalists.
Jordan Poyer set to return to Buffalo this week
Jordan Poyer gets a HUGE ovation here at the Micah Hyde charity softball game. He says he’s loved all 7 years he got to play in Buffalo and told #BillsMafia they have the best QB in the league in Josh Allen.

To be more exact, this will be Poyer’s second public return to Buffalo since joining Miami. Each year, the Bills engage in a charity softball game coached by Micah Hyde, and despite the fact that Poyer had signed with a division opponent, he still played and earned a standing ovation from the crowd.
Furthermore, Poyer reminded Bills fans in the stands that Josh Allen is the finest quarterback in the league, according to Matt Parrino.
This will be Poyer’s first game in Buffalo since being released, and he should receive another standing ovation. He gave a lot of joy to the Bills, and it would be shocking if Poyer is not honored in front of his old supporters.
