Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver will be sidelined for another game after a hamstring injury setback during practice on Wednesday. Wilson, who had only recently recovered from a high ankle sprain suffered early in training camp, has yet to find consistent playing time this season due to repeated injury setbacks.
Head coach Mike Tomlin commented on the situation, emphasizing that Wilson’s limited practice participation affects his potential game-time opportunities. “As we’ve talked repeatedly in this setting, Roman needs to work for me to really consider him,” Tomlin said on Tuesday. “Once his participation got compromised, I moved on.”
Wilson has managed just five snaps this season, all in the game against the Las Vegas Raiders. This ongoing absence is challenging for the Steelers, who drafted Wilson in the third round with hopes he’d play a more significant role. However, his missed time raises questions about when, or if, he’ll be able to contribute meaningfully this year.
